Our first encounter with Nurse Donna Price was in March 2023 when my nephew was hospitalized, this being among many others prior. His medical care and treatment required a group of specialized medical staff along with a myriad of medications. We found her to be very personable, welcoming, and accommodating. She was attentive to addressing his medical needs given the chronic and delicate nature of my nephew’s health. He served in the United States Air Force with declining health over the course of time. Needless to say, his medical case was a complex one and required utmost attentiveness to the holistic approach with regard to hospitalizations. The slightest mishap could have been detrimental to his survival. Nurse Price answered the call to my nephew's needs by the way she meticulously and methodically carried out her care for him with her gifted nursing skills, delicately balancing every area of needed attention. He was eventually discharged from the hospital and her care.

Moving fast forward, my nephew was hospitalized again in critical condition in April 2023 and placed on the MICU unit. Upon this hospitalization, I reached out to Nurse Price to inform her based on the rapport we had developed previously in March. Without hesitation, she extended herself by visiting with us, offering words of encouragement, compassion, and empathy.

Unfortunately, my nephew passed away in the latter part of April after succumbing to his medical diagnoses. She extended herself, expressing sympathy and condolences. Prior to his passing, we had planned to nominate Nurse Price for the DAISY Award. It gives me great pleasure at this point in time to do so on his and my behalf. Our experience with her exemplifies nothing short of the epitome of a true medical nursing professional, having the best interest of her patients at heart and going beyond the call of duty. 

It is without hesitation that we recommend Nurse Price be honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She has a heart that understands both the medical and emotional needs of patients, a positive attitude and understanding that affect patients undergoing devastating circumstances, and immeasurable compassion and kindness shown by her presence from practically being with us from beginning to end as we underwent one of the most challenging and life-changing events of our lives. 

In closing, I believe the medical community would be well served if it could have the work ethic of Nurse Donna Price duplicated numerous times over. Thank you for the opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for this outstanding nurse of practice and principle. I believe she has answered her call and is truly a God-sent blessing!
