Donna has embraced empowering and supporting nurses, caring for women, newborns, and their families.
For almost 40 years, Donna has had an integral role in the care of Women and Children. Beginning her career as an L&D staff nurse, she has evolved professionally over the years, always with a focus on education for patients, families, peers, and physicians. Teaching comes naturally to Donna. She is an expert on the principles of adult learning, recognizing their sense of self-direction and motivation. Several years ago, Donna taught the family of a NICU infant lifesaving skills prior to discharge. Several days later the infant was rushed back to our institution, and the parents were credited with using the CPR skills they had learned and remembered from Donna.
Additionally, Donna previously led a collaborative simulation around a shoulder dystocia scenario, and within 24 hours of participating in the drill, several OB team members attended a delivery where a shoulder dystocia was evident. Throughout her career, Donna has embraced empowering and supporting nurses, caring for women, newborns, and their families. She has been impactful in changing the lives of so many and is held in the highest regard by staff, peers, and physicians who appreciate her authenticity, her inclusivity, and her championing of patient rights.
