After my first chemo treatment, I began to experience severe dehydration in the days following my infusions. It was recommended by my oncologist to receive IV fluids to counteract this side effect. And Saint Elizabeth Infusion center was chosen due to weekend availability. I remember meeting her on my first visit and how at ease and welcomed she made me feel. My journey every other week of attempting to recuperate after my chemo infusions was something I mainly navigated on my own, but it was a relief to have such a warm, welcoming, genuine nurse to assist me. I remember being a little shaky and weak and she offered me a wheelchair without question and made me feel right at home. I was lucky to then be greeted by her almost every weekend that I needed to go to the center and each trip was just as good as the last because of her never-ceasing smile and how genuine she was. I can see why she has chosen to remain a nurse for as long as she has because it is a natural fit for her. I enjoyed hearing her stories. Going to the infusion center for fluids may sound simple but when a patient is going because of the nightmare of cancer treatments, it is a reprieve from that nightmare to be greeted by such a wonderful nurse. Donna is wholeheartedly a DAISY Nurse.
