Providing extraordinary nursing care doesn't just happen in a hospital. Many times, nurses find that they have to give care whenever and wherever needed. Such were the actions of Donna Washack, a nurse supervisor at Coastal Carolina Hospital.

While out one weekend, Donna Washack saw a woman in distress and came to her aid. She called 911 and calmed and comforted the woman until help arrived. The woman was transported to the hospital.
Following her next shift at the hospital, Washack took the time to check on the patient to make sure she was doing well and had received the care she needed. Donna's thoughtfulness made the patient feel special. She stated that "Donna was a true professional and a tribute to her profession".

When I think of what Donna did, I am reminded that nurses aren't just nurses when they come to work. They are nurses 24/7 - always caring and always reactive to whatever situations arise. At any given moment, nurses will spring into action to care for others.
