I brought my 87-year-old mother to the ED due to severe vomiting and dehydration. She ended up being admitted. She was placed on the 4th floor. The next day I came to visit and meet her nurse Donra. I want to commend her on her wonderful instincts and nursing skills. She was so sweet and attentive to my mother and listened to my concerns. She is a very compassionate nurse. She is such a good advocate for her patients. I believe her concern about my mother’s abdominal pain is what saved my mother's life. She brought her concerns to the doctor, and a CT was ordered. This CT turned out to show a twisted bowel. Dr. M was her surgeon and told my mother she would die without the surgery. I believe that without Donra's proactive actions, this would not have been diagnosed. I am truly grateful to her.
