I do not know where to start in describing this nurse's amazing ability to turn a very stressful and frustrating situation into a pleasant one. A series of events led up to my discharge. However, the final and most looming one was that if my newborn daughter did not have her first bowel movement by 3 pm, I would be discharged without her. This idea was physically and mentally daunting, to say the least. This nurse made every effort to ensure that everything would be okay. She offered suggestions and supplies, including (warm prune juice and a warm bath for the baby. We spoke about each other's family and her beautiful granddaughter. She checked in every moment she could. She went above and beyond. I felt calm and hopeful with her by my side. As the clock kept ticking, my husband and I grew more anxious by the minute. Finally, at 2:45 my daughter produced what she needed to be discharged! Dorett was there within seconds. Her reaction alone was precious and heart-warming. I think of her often. When I hear stories of guardian angels, I know Dorett was mine that day.
