Don't get me wrong, I do not think I've ever had a bad nurse here at Forbes, but out of them all of them, Dorianne was hands down the most amazing nurse I've ever had at any hospital I've ever visited. Not only is she great at her job and so nice, she really went out of her way for me. In March I came to Forbes very sick. I had emergency surgery. I ended up with an ostomy and was in the hospital for over three months. Every nurse I had was nice and changed my bag for me. I hated my ostomy and my stoma and didn't even want to think about it. I didn't look at it when the nurses changed it for me. That all changed when I had Dorianne as a nurse. She took the time to explain to me why it was so important for me to look at it and learn about it and how to change it myself. She showed me how and talked me through it. She even sat down with me and showed me how to track my output to make sure I drank enough water to stay hydrated. She made me feel strong and confident enough to be able to do it myself. The first day I went home I had a leak in my wafer and without her as a nurse, I would have come right back to the hospital. I ended up back in the hospital and have Dorianne again and was reminded of how absolutely amazing she is! Not many people think about how things are going to be when they go home and are on their own and because of her, I was able and confident enough to do my own care. Thanks, Dorianne, you are amazing!
