I have a cousin, RC who is more of a sister to me, and I hold her and her children extremely close to my heart. Her youngest daughter, E, is a patient at CHP and I have been with them every step of the way throughout the obstacles that they have been encountering. I wanted to reach out to you today and thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking time out of your day to assure she is properly taken care of. I just spoke with R regarding E's circumstances, and the sound of relief in her voice is remarkable. Thanks to you, Dorie, R can now sleep at night knowing that all of the questions and concerns she had for months have finally been addressed and that her daughter will be receiving the kind of care that she has been longing for. R has been terrified for months not knowing what trauma could potentially occur at any given moment with her baby, and now she can finally be at ease with this. There are no words to express how fortunate our entire family is that you had enough kindness in your heart to reach out to R knowing that her daughter was not a patient within the group of doctors you work with. It takes a special kind of person to go above and beyond by addressing a highly concerned and irate mother of a patient to the extent that you did. I understand that mothers can be very difficult to deal with when it comes to the well-being of their child, but not all individuals would have taken the initiative that you did to assure she received the care that she should have been provided with a long time ago, and because of that, we are beyond thankful. I spoke to R after leaving my Employee Experience Committee meeting. During this meeting, we watched a presentation regarding patient care. It was defined on such a connecting level that it truly puts into perspective what patient care should be, and why. Dorie, you not only met that expectation but you exceeded it. They say that all things happen for a reason, and this is one of those prime examples. You have been heaven sent and we are all so incredibly blessed to have had you to intervene during this time of distress. You truly are an angel, Dorie, and thank you so very much for giving my family the opportunity to be at peace with this.
Your actions are an exact replica of what patient care should be, and my family and I genuinely appreciate what you have done for us. We understand that it may be your "job" to do this, but to us, it was so much more than that. Thank you, Dorie!!
