April 2016 Honoree
dorothy ann mitchell, RN
My 6 year old daughter was sent to Bridgeport Hospital ED by her pediatrician for possible appendicitis. Dorothy Mitchell was her nurse and I have to say she took amazing care of my baby. She was so patient with my daughter who definitely made a scene when it was time for bloodwork! She was gentle, caring, compassionate, and attentive. She took her time to get to know my daughter and once she saw her with her stuffed pup Max, Nurse Dorothy showed her a picture of her grand pup! Dr. G suggested to my daughter that she should name her stuffed bunny after Dorothy and she loved the idea. Needless to say my daughter, bunny Dorothy and I are extremely pleased with Nurse Dorothy. Actually, I am extremely pleased with the whole care team. Thank God it was a false alarm and my baby gets to keep her appendix! Thank you all for your wonderful care!
Thank you, Dorothy Ann, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
