Dorothy goes above and beyond every day here at Morristown. When she sees a nurse struggling in her day, she approaches them and meets with them in her office. She takes the time out of her extremely busy day to ask that staff nurse if they are doing OK; whether it’s from the acuity of their patients or something happening at home. Staff confide in her and she consistently listens and helps.

Most recently one of our nursing assistants had just renovated her basement and after a big rainstorm, she lost everything. Her whole basement was flooded. Once Dorothy found out, she met with the staff member and guided her in applying for assistance that was provided by the hospital.

Furthermore, her office is located near our private rooms on our unit. She can hear when patients are struggling, and she is the first to answer the call bell or just "check in" on them. She also reaches out to resources such as the Ethics department when she feels that the patient would benefit. Dorothy has been a strong leader and mentor and I can truly say I am so grateful to have worked for her for over 16 years! She has continuously supported me and pushes me to be the best I can be! She isn't recognized enough.
