On the night of Wednesday, family members were contacted about a change in Dorothy's patient's condition. Going into the early morning hours of Thursday, Dorothy knew the patient was preparing for a journey to her heavenly home. Not sure if Dorothy actually wrote the sweet note to the patient, but it was made very clear, she comforted this sweet precious lady by singing "Amazing Grace" to her in the last hours of life here on earth.
The family was so touched and moved by this gesture of kindness. Covid has required many family members to rely heavily on the Nursing & Medical staff to provide "an extra measure" of comfort in times of sickness and unfortunately in death as well. I actually know the patient and family very well. A quote from the family, "Dorothy will never know just what that meant (singing Amazing Grace specifically) to our family!"
Dorothy demonstrated compassion, kindness, and love for this patient. Aya Healthcare is very fortunate to have such an Amazing Nurse like Dorothy as part of your organization.
