Dorothy was the nurse tending to my brother who was a victim of a stabbing. My mother and I traveled from Philadelphia to Detroit expecting the worst for him and hoping beyond hope that he would make it through. Upon our arrival, we found my brother disoriented, in pain, quiet and frankly, pretty cranky. However, we also found him under the care of this nurse who treated him with kindness and good humor despite his rough exterior. Dorothy comforted my mother and me throughout our stay with my brother here at Henry Ford Hospital and we could not be more grateful. Her expertise and willingness to engage with us, gave us the space to feel at ease in a time of turmoil. We will be forever grateful to Dorothy and may her kind spirit live forever.
