Dorothy displayed amazing patience and caring when confronted with a difficult patient. The patient was very upset because she felt that she had not been given the correct medicine. The patient became very angry and proceeded to scream at Dorothy that she "needed her medicine right now!" Dorothy was calm and composed throughout the whole episode and was able to talk to the patient and calm her down. Dorothy then called the doctor multiple times in order to get the correct medications ordered. Despite being cursed at and threatened, Dorothy remained calm and was able to talk the patient down. She was able to work out the correct medications for the patient and treated her with respect and care throughout the ordeal.
Dorothy continues to exemplify the SPIRIT values every day that she works and is a valued asset to our nursing team on 4W. She advocates for our patients even under pressure and helps to act as their voice to doctors when patients need help. She is an exceptional nurse and is deserving of recognition for her service.
