I am the daughter of a patient in the ER Department in Bismarck. My mom was being seen for a severe infection, and her nurse was Drake Lalim, who we will forever be thankful for.

During her admission, she was ordered an antibiotic, as she has many known drug allergies. While her medication was being pushed, she told Drake that something was wrong and to stop. Thank God, Drake listened to her concern and stopped pushing the medication. When he stopped, he noticed her O2 stat dropping; she immediately went into respiratory arrest.

Drake started chest compression right away as he called for the crash cart, and continued chest compression for seven minutes. My mom's life was saved thanks to Drake, who listened to her concerns, stopped the medication, and provided a quick response. My mom was placed on a ventilator and transferred to the ICU. While my mom was in the ICU unit, along with all of our family, Drake, whom we didn't know until now, came to see how she was doing.

When he came to her room, he explained to us who he was and that he was the one performing chest compression. We as a family will never ever be able to repay him for the life-saving action he performed on our mom. We will forever be thankful for him and forever grateful that he came to check on our mom.

We were able to meet him, to thank him personally, and share our heartfelt gratitude. Not only did he save our mom's life, but he took time out of his day off to come and check on her. We would not still have our mother if it weren't for Drake Lalim! We cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition.
