Back in 2012, I was diagnosed with Diabetes; I was in full DKA with my blood sugar in the 1,700. When I was finally moved to the floor from the ICU, Duane was one of my nurses; he was the best nurse. I obviously still remember him. He made such a big and scary change in my life seem less scary. 

He is the Nurse who made me want to work in health care- it is because of him that I wanted to work at Primary Children's, because of his kindness and goofiness. Now I am working toward getting my Paramedic, and I would not be here if it wasn't for the way he impacted my stay at the hospital. I wanted to bring joy to other people, especially children, in times of struggle, just as he did for me.
