Dustin Brown, RN, Emergency Department, celebrates the February DAISY Award he received for nursing excellence April 10. Dustin was recognized with the award based on a mother’s letter about the outstanding care Dustin gave her daughter.
The mother writes: “ I would like to thank you for the quality of nursing care in St. Francis’ Emergency Room…my daughter, was cared for by a nurse named Dustin. She arrived in severe pain with vomiting…Dustin moved quickly to get her symptoms under control. His continual care and monitoring of her symptoms…were excellent…While we were in her room, a patient was brought next door with EMTs, doctors and nurses hurrying past. Dustin was with them. The professionalism observed after the patient died was excellent. Dustin has a wonderful connection with patients…Dustin's concern and efficiency made a difficult time much easier.”
