Earnestine purchased a baby swing for a patient who stayed in the NICU for 2 months as he went through withdrawals because he was born to a mother who abused opiates. He had many days of hypersensitivity, irritability, and crying; the swing gave the staff another tool to use to help ease his discomfort.
