June 2017 Honoree
eboni redding, RN
I was admitted recently for difficulty breathing. After all the tests came it was confirmed I have CHF. But, I want to inform you of the skill level of Eboni. The IV placed had to be attempted several times. Three times the vein was blown. Then the IV was placed, but it was painful to move my arm. Then the IV was placed to the outside of my right hand. It got hung up and bumped constantly. I am right handed. When I explained the series of events to Eboni, she said: "let's see what we can do". She made her approach to the vein and hit it straight in. What skill I said to myself. That same night I had a gas attack. It's strange how a gas attack in the chest looks like a heart attack. And, the fact that I am here for CHF made matters worst. But, Eboni was so cool. I could see the recall of procedures popping in her head. After that, she spent extra time to get to know me as a person. I wish she was my daughter.
Thank you, Eboni, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
