Dialysis
Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital
Ebony is very thorough in what she does, engaged in her patients and the unit. She is a great team player and always looking for ways we can improve care for our patients.
Ebony was on call on Sunday and was called in around 9 AM to dialyze the 1st patient with a K of 7.3 who had missed dialysis for two weeks. Then she did a 2nd patient with a K of 6/2. After that patient, she dialyzed a patient in the COVID unit who 20 minutes into the treatment had a seizure. After this patient was treated, she was called for a 4th patient by the doctor. The patient was intubated in ICU and had a fluid overload. She was very unstable. Later, the doctor called the UD and told her how much she appreciated Ebony's attitude at 1 AM in the morning when she had been there for so long saving patients' lives. She said she was compassionate and caring and as fresh as you would be at 9 AM in the morning! The doctor wanted to recognize her for her commitment and dedication to the dialysis patients. By the time she completed this patient, she had worked more than 17 hours on call in the hospital!

When COVID started and we were short of masks, she made all the staff individual masks. She ordered face shields for the entire staff and paid for them herself. Ebony is a true DAISY Nurse.
