Edel demonstrated many acts of skill, professionalism, sensitivity to family, compassion to the patient, as well as treating the patient with dignity. What stands out was when she responded to me after overhearing a phone conversation in which I expressed frustration over my husband's slow progress and mental fog. Edel took the initiative to explain to me exactly what happened to my husband, and why recovery was slow and how it was normal. The manner in which this was communicated was sensitive yet adult to adult. Edel is a great nurse and a great communicator.
