Memorial Hospital West started a Nurse Residency Program in September 2018. Edgar Camacho, one of the first Nurse Residents selected to work on the Joint Replacement Unit, is the first Nurse Resident recognized by his patient for a DAISY Award. Edgar, while working with his Preceptor, floated to a Tele/Med/Surg Unit. His patient, admitted for cardiac issues, was so impressed with the care, attention, detail, compassion and kindness of Edgar, a brand-new nurse, she nominated him for the DAISY Award.
