Edie has 35 years of dedicated service to MHH. Edie is willing to take on any challenge head-on. She takes the difficult patients. For many years she managed a patient who was disgruntled with every other practitioner. Edie managed her neurologically related bowel and bladder dysfunctions impeccably. Edie most recently managed a male patient who was sent to the ER with every urinary catheter change. The doctor of record threatened to remove the patient from our services if we did not have a nurse who could manage a difficult-to-insert urinary catheter in a male patient with an extraordinarily large prostate. Edie took him on as her patient. The patient has remained without an ER visit and his urologist is very satisfied. Edie is also the nurse of choice for our families and friends, as well as for ourselves. Whenever a nurse is needed, Edie is always the first request. Edie is always calm and personable. She never loses her cool. For these many reasons, it is my great pleasure to have her as my colleague and to nominate her for the DAISY Award.
