A patient had a post op bleeding complication. The surgeon brought it up to her that she needs a hysterectomy, and she needs a blood transfusion. Edith Rosas was there for her throughout her emotional struggle, giving her reassurance while monitoring her physical wellbeing. Edith was constantly in contact with her surgeon until the patient's hemoglobin was too low and she really needed the hysterectomy. Edith was there to give her as much support as she could. She understands how much the patient was grieving about this circumstance. The patient and her mom became very anxious, but Edith was able to de-escalate while still honoring the patient's decision. She stayed with the patient for a while until the OR room was ready. The patient ended up in ICU post op, but she came back a couple days later and was finally discharged. Against all odds, the patient survived.
