Edith always goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. She is truly a kind and caring nurse with so much compassion and during the pandemic someone that has compassion means so very much to the patients. One of the many situations where Edith has gone above and beyond for her patient was during the Thanksgiving holiday. There was a patient with COVID and dementia that was admitted to the unit, this patient was unfortunately under Palliative Care and passed away. The patient's husband was also admitted during this time on another unit. Edith was an advocate to bring the husband over to be a patient on E7 so that he could be with his wife. The husband did not leave her side during this time- They had been married for 62 years. After the patient had passed, the husband continued to be a patient on the unit. Edith always made extra time to go in and sit and talk to him. When his dinner tray came, she would sit and have dinner with him so he didn't have to eat alone. The day that he was discharged to a facility, he shed a tear as he said his goodbyes to everyone, and gave Edith a hug, expressing his gratitude for everything she did for him. It is people like Edith who make a difference in nursing care. The way that she treated both of these patients is just an example of the type of care that Edith gives all of her patients. I am proud to have her on our team.
