This nurse exemplifies the heart of nursing. No matter how busy this nurse was, she always made me feel like I was the only patient in the hospital. I had extensive foot surgery and experienced severe post-op pain. When this nurse realized my pain management was not being effective, this nurse took the initiative to develop a better plan and ensured there was consistency because this nurse was my special patient advocate. I feel my recovery was better improved. This nurse assisted me in reaching a level of comfort I did not have before. Not only was this nurse being very attentive to all my needs, but she offered the emotional support I needed as well. As a nurse myself, I know how difficult it can be to balance the demands of the job and yet maintain a level of compassion for each patient's needs. It is very visible that this nurse not only loves what she does but also loves the people she does it for even more. So, Editha, thank you for being the extraordinary nurse you are and personally assisting my recovery to be the best it could be. I'm blessed for having the privileges of you being there for me. I hope that I share your level of compassion in my own practice. You are an excellent example of who a nurse should be. You have gained my professional respect as well. Keep up the great work.
