Shadowing Miss Edna for the last three weeks has allowed for me to view the often overlooked aspect of nursing which is altruism, care in its truest form. Miss Edna is a nurse of not only intelligence but also of great kindness. She conveys the aspect of nursing that promotes both physical and emotional healing for the patients. I have seen her heal through medication administration, touch and through words. She brings a smile to each patient and she is the type of nurse I hope to be.
