Edralin has been my Pre-OP nurse for two surgeries: L-patella surgery and L-middle toe (hammer-toe replacement) surgery. Edralin is a remarkably talented, calm, efficient, professional clinician who is kind and thoughtful. She anticipates a patient's concerns: (frequent use of toilet, delays in surgery start-time, request for TV viewing, need for more or less light, medication dosage concerns) and also provides clear answers to questions while simultaneously checking details and asking questions to update patient information in KP computer system. She makes a patient comfortable, relaxed, and prepared for surgery. Both times that I was her patient, she suggested heating my bed because of my poor circulation. The first time, she complimented me on my upswept hair pulled into a coil on top of my head which surprised me because she noticed my hair, and it made me happy that she actually liked how it looked. The second time, I was lying on a surgery table on casters while being wheeled into the operating room, when the orderly stopped and said that I had to take out my hairpins. I was worried that my hairpins would be tossed out; however, out of thin air, Edralin was suddenly standing next to my surgical table and handing me a capped specimen bottle to put my 3 long hair clips in, and then she said she would put them with my other valuables, just before a surgery cap was placed on my head. How did she know I would need her to save my hairpins from the trash can? I was amazed at her ability to anticipate what I needed help with and always be there ready to help me get something done. She is an amazing registered nurse and an outstanding ASU team member.
