Eduardo Dos Santos, BSN, RN

I would like to take a moment to highly commend and recognize Registered Nurse Eduardo, who works on the 4th Floor West unit at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. I was admitted with a femoral blood clot in my left leg as well as bilateral blood clots in both lungs.

During what was understandably a very concerning medical situation, Eduardo’s care stood out. His knowledge, calm demeanor, and professionalism were evident from the beginning. He consistently took the time to explain what was happening, what procedures or tests were being done, and what the next steps would be. That level of communication greatly reduced anxiety and helped me feel confident that I was receiving excellent care. Equally impressive was his ability to coordinate and manage the many moving parts of hospital care.

Eduardo demonstrated leadership and composure while interacting with doctors, nurses, and student nurses. It was clear that he is not only clinically skilled, but also a natural teacher and communicator among his colleagues. I say this with some perspective, having spent 35 years as a professional educator. Eduardo embodies the qualities of an outstanding instructor, mentor, and caregiver. His professionalism, compassion, and competence truly made a difference in my experience as a patient. In my opinion, Eduardo is a true gem and an outstanding representative of Gulf Coast Medical Center's high standards of care. Please extend my sincere gratitude and recognition for the exceptional care he provides.
