I would like to nominate Edward Cardoza for his exceptional care during my stay in the ICU at BEMC. From the moment I met Edward, it was clear that he embodies the true essence of nursing. His passion for helping and caring for his patients was evident in every interaction. Being in the ICU is an inherently vulnerable experience, marked by discomfort, uncertainty, and the need to rely on others for assistance. Edward not only treated me with the utmost respect but also took the time to listen to my concerns and address them thoroughly. He included my family in discussions, easing my anxiety, especially when I was upgraded from a Rapid Response. His empathy and communication went a long way in making a challenging time more bearable.

When I experienced a rebound anaphylactic reaction, Edward responded quickly and effectively, coordinating care to ensure I received the necessary medication in a timely manner. Through it all, he remained calm and kept me calm, which was critical in managing the situation. His quick thinking and professionalism during such a critical moment were truly remarkable. Nursing is clearly Edward’s calling. He was dedicated to providing the highest level of care throughout my recovery and has left a lasting, positive impression on me. Edward not only advocated for my well-being but also demonstrated a deep sense of commitment to his patients overall. As an employee, it can be difficult to transition into the role of the patient, but Edward made this experience one I will always remember with gratitude. His compassion and tireless dedication to his patients set him apart, and I am thankful for the exceptional care he provided.
