About two weeks ago in IR we received a Code Neuro patient from ER for intervention. The case went very smoothly and was a success. Ed was with the staff supporting and assisting with any and all tasks needed from the time I arrived in the ER until the time the patient was brought to ICU. He was exceptionally helpful with charting details (for JCAHO) and was able to answer any questions I had. In addition, we had a huge dilemma post procedure with getting the patient a room, since we were census in all departments fit to take the patient. I was blown away then when Ed offered to care for the patient as the primary RN in the ICU until they had a nurse available to take over. When I thanked him, he mentioned something to me about not just being a "paper pusher". I have never once throughout my experiences working with him thought of him as only a "paper pusher". Each and every time he is absolutely wonderful to work with, even if it's just in a class. Not only is he very intelligent but he is willing to help out in any way possible even when it's not really his duty to do so. I have the utmost respect for him as a peer and coworker.
Note: This is Ed's second DAISY Award!

Thank you, Edward, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
