My Dad was in Neuro-ICU following a fall that resulted in acute onset chronic subdural hematoma. After a few days in Neuro-ICU, it became increasingly clear that my Dad would not survive. He was transferred to a room on the Oncology floor for comfort care/hospice.

Edwin was my Dad's "day nurse" during his final days. My four nieces and I stayed with my Dad around the clock. We were amazed by Edwin's skill and knowledge. He was exceedingly precise and aware of even the smallest change in my Dad's condition. Edwin kept us informed about what to expect and continuously checked on my Dad to ensure he was comfortable. Several adjustments to the medication were made. He was so respectful of all of us.

When he was going off shift one evening, he asked permission to pray for my Dad. This so touched us. He said with their permission, he prayed for his patients every evening. Nursing is much more than a job for Edwin. He had an extraordinary combination of talent, caring, hard work, and humility. We felt incredibly supported during this very difficult time in our lives. Edwin truly loves his profession, and I can only hope to have such amazing care in my final days.

Thank you, Edwin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
