I am writing on behalf of my father, as he is too frail to write.

Dad was admitted to the Launceston General Hospital to AMU early this year, stayed in AMU for 2 weeks, completed rehab, and then went to a nursing home. But he remembers one nurse, Edwin, in AMU who was professional in caring for him. Dad says Edwin not only saw him as a patient, but he also made him feel like a person from the way he respectfully talked to him. He always put a gentle smile, and dad will never forget how gentle and softly spoken Edwin was.

Dad has always had a terrible experience with putting in cannulas, but he remembers how Edwin talked him through when he was fixing one for him and dad says Edwin is the gentlest “canula person” he has ever met in his entire 87 years so far on earth. Dad says Edwin was resourceful. He looked confident, but calm, and his soft, low tone made Dad feel his privacy was considered. “Dad is a difficult person.” Saying such kind words, Edwin must have touched him differently.
