Edwin Sares has been a bedside nurse in the NSCU for a little over a year. Since the day he arrived at the unit his smile has not left his face. During Edwin's fellowship year, he suffered a devastating house fire where his family lost everything. Even then, he showed up for work every day with a positive attitude and did not waver from his commitment of taking care of the patients. He is always a bright shining light; his patients ask for him by name as he is always going above and beyond. One patient and family member stated, “we need to tell you about nurse Edwin, when I left my husband in his care, I was able to sleep.”
Patient stated, “I was so anxious, and Edwin took care of me with such diligence that I was able to calm down. I want to adopt Edwin as my own.”

Edwin is often described by his colleagues as a team player, or simply stated “he is the best”. When you walk onto the unit and Edwin is there, you can sense that regardless of how busy the shift was his good nature helped to promote a sense of calmness, positivity, and teamwork.
