Eglantina's increased vigilance allowed for a quick response to the emergency, having all supplies ready, and co-workers and physicians ready for action.
Eglantina was in the step-down and had a patient whom she was concerned about regarding an incision. She informed the physicians throughout the day, who came to look at the patient and weren’t urgently concerned, but thought they would take him back to the OR. Eglantina stated that she just didn’t feel like the patient was doing well, even though vitals remained stable. She continued to update the physicians throughout her shift, rounding frequently on the patient and monitoring the drainage output. That afternoon, the patient had a carotid blowout, but Eglantina's increased vigilance allowed for a quick response to the emergency, having all supplies ready, and co-workers and physicians ready for action. The patient was successfully transferred to the OR, where the repair was made. After a brief stay in the SICU, the patient was discharged and stated that he could not express the gratitude he felt towards Eglantina. She embodies the voice of the patient and advocates to the physician team to ensure her patients receive the best care.
