Eileen provides outstanding care to her patients, who love her calm demeanor and extensive community health nursing expertise. We receive many letters and phone calls from patients complimenting the care received by Eileen. One of the examples of great compliments came from one of her recent patient’s family who wanted to recognize the great work the VNA team provided: “I can’t say enough she changed mine and my family’s life. My 39-year-old son C had a terrible motorcycle accident on the Garden State Parkway. Terrible. The worst phone call I have ever gotten in my life. He was taken to RWJ/Trauma with severe road rash all over his body, broken ribs, right shoulder broken in 3 places, fx lower back flaps, dislocated fingers, knee fx, it was terrible. He came home on VNA services. Your team just took over and reassured us he will be fine. Eileen taught me how to clean his wounds and change bandages. She was coming three times a week. All the other days, I would take care of his wounds. (I never thought I could ever take care of a person so hurt. I always said I could never be a nurse, and I worked in the ER for ten years.) Eileen was great. She made sure he had all his wound supplies. My son is doing great; he is striving and getting better every day. I count my blessings every day, and I’m so thankful for the VNA."
It is a pleasure working with Eileen throughout the years side-by-side in the field and to be her manager. Eileen truly deserves to be called a DAISY Nurse.
Note: This is Eileen's 2nd DAISY Award!
