It is a blessing that we have so many wonderful nurses at Holy Cross and Eileen Georgi, MSN, RN is a special blessing to her colleagues and most importantly, to her patients and their families.

Eileen has excellent clinical skills and is well respected by everyone who works with her. An example of her extraordinary care to her patients is one of our cancer research patients. Ms. B was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing care at the Holy Cross Cancer Center. As if that wasn't enough, Ms. B has no local family, limited funds, and was having difficulty getting transportation for her care. Then she was diagnosed with diabetes. Fortunately, Eileen was Ms. B's research nurse.

Eileen patiently worked with Ms. B and the cancer staff to help her get transportation for her visits, obtain financial assistance and to access donated funds for her diabetes medication and supplies. She also helped Ms. B find her supplies at a reduced rate. She kept on top of Ms. B's care and ensured that she had enough medication and supplies. She checked on her regularly to make sure she was OK. Ms. B was admitted to the hospital a few times. Eileen visited her regularly on the phone and kept in touch with her family.

When Ms. B had difficulty applying for Social Security benefits, Eileen worked with Ms. B and the SS representative to provide the info the government requested. Eileen wants her patients to do well and they know it. Here are some of the things her patients have said about Eileen:

We have many great nurses, but Eileen Georgi is really special and deserves recognition for her extraordinary care and compassion.
