I came to the hospital to give birth to my son. We had to stay in the hospital for multiple days due to my son having jaundice. I had been very adamant that I wanted to exclusively breastfeed, but due to my son's jaundice, we had to discuss supplementing. I didn't know much about breastfeeding and colostrum or anything regarding feeding a newborn in general. During the first two days of our stay, many people talked to me about what to expect, but no one ever got hands-on to determine if my baby had a good latch or if I was prepping my breasts correctly to ensure he even wanted to latch. Not until I met Eileen Johnson. She was such a light from the very second she came into my room. I was actively attempting to feed my son when she entered, and she immediately stepped in to aide and teach me. By the end of her visit, my milk had come in, and she taught and demonstrated better latching techniques. She provided me with an insane amount of resources and support for breastfeeding tips, tricks, and advice for me to be successful. She never made me feel stupid or that she had to rush off somewhere. She took her time with me, and I am forever grateful for her help so I can be successful at breastfeeding my son and providing for him.

Thank you, Eileen, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
