EJ was the nurse assigned to care for my father for the past few days. 

He was informative- answering all questions from myself and my family. Many of the questions were repetitive as we have a large family. He took time with each family member- explaining things to each person's intellectual level.

EJ was very patient and caring to my father. He is an older patient, mentally slipping due to age. EJ used different techniques to engage my father, always with empathy and compassion. 

EJ was also very professional and understanding with me. I am an ER physician, and he understood that I was an hour away from the hospital. He called me at the start and the end of each shift- reviewing labs/test results performed while I was not in attendance. He was very respectful of my profession and my position as the family advocate- taking the time to keep me informed on labs/test results/MD updates both in person and over the phone. This type of personal attention was appreciated and did not go unnoticed. 

EJ was compassionate and caring- always making sure each family member had water and food if needed. He would always ask if we understood the plan for the day- asking and making sure all questions were answered. 

As a fellow caregiver, I am proud to nominate EJ for this award. He exemplifies all the qualities of a DAISY Honoree. I would be proud to have him on my team at my hospital!!
