We recently had a patient from Nigeria who came in via EMS unconscious and pregnant with triplets. She had only been in the states for about a week and had no family here. Her husband was still in Nigeria as well. Unfortunately, the patient lost all three babies. She was transferred to the ICU and remained unconscious.

Over the next few days her conscious was slightly improved but she still had no family here and was alone in her ICU room. Ejiro is from Nigeria as well and she went over to the ICU to visit the patient and speak reassuring words to her in her native language.

Additionally, she sang songs to her in her native language that were from Nigeria. I can't imagine a better example of caring and compassion than that demonstration by Ejiro. I am inspired by her actions and moved by her demonstration of kindness and spiritual support.
