Elaine is the epitome of professional nurse. She approaches every task with the same dedication and attention to detail. Elaine has spent most of her career serving and caring for patients in the emergency department. Elaine is currently part of the ambulatory care team, where she continues to provide excellent care to her patients and excellent support for her teammates. For the past year, Elaine has been a very active member of the Nurse Practice Council. When our hospital leadership announced that we were going to pursue the Pathway to Excellence certification, Elaine stepped up and offered guidance and leadership for the Pathway to Excellence rollout celebration. Then, once again when the NPC was tasked with re-establishing our Hester Davis compliance program. While reviewing the compliance material provided to us by Hester Davis, Elaine was able to identify several ambiguities that posed possible challenges to nursing staff in regard to accurately assessing a patient’s risk level for falling and thereby preventing falls. Elaine made several changes to the assessment criteria and submitted them for approval to be used in-house. After reviewing Elaine‘s recommendations, Hester Davis not only gave her approval to use her changes in-house but also informed her that they were adopting those changes to distribute for facilities to use. This is just one example of the type of dedication that Elaine brings to work every day.
