Elaine was nominated by a couple of her fellow Healers. One summed it all up by saying "Elaine has the Strength IU advertises. She is AMAZING".
Her fellow Healers shared that Elaine went out of her way, on her own time and money to make tie dye shirts for a young mentally challenged patient she was caring for. She also made one for her patient's Minnie-Mouse doll. The patient and her family were very appreciative. The patient was so proud of her gift and plans to wear her shirt to the Special Olympics.
Elaine is so special and caring. She helps make PCU a great place to work and is a great example of how our fellow healers go the extra mile. She goes each extra inch, to add up to the extra miles.
Elaine's practice exemplifies Relationship Centered Care, over and over. The actions, described here by her coworkers, demonstrate our nursing values of interrelatedness, respect, and diversity. The care she delivered to this patient clearly provided care to her patient's mind, body and spirit-which is at the core of our Professional Practice Model.
