Elaine Budreau is an NP who frequently sees a family who has been down on their luck for a while. Mom and her 3 kids (8, 5, and 3) have been through a lot over the last several months. Mom bravely decided to leave an abusive relationship and packed up herself and her kids and left. They left with hardly anything. For a brief period of time, this family was homeless, and the mom was without a job. Luckily mom was able to find a simple job and a place to rent but did not have any belongings or a way to purchase belongings. That’s when Elaine (and a Medical Assistant with our department) went into action. Both Elaine and the MA organized a collection process for our Peds Team to pitch in and donate anything they could. We were able to acquire beds for all of the kids, kitchenware, tables, food, lamps, toys for the kids, games, towels, dishware, gift cards, cash, and so much more. We also received some items from other departments/persons outside of Peds. Elaine and the MA delivered the items to the family, and everyone was overcome with joy, appreciation, and humbleness. I’m grateful to be able to work with people who care this much about others and want to see nothing but good in the world.
