At every turn and in every moment, Elaine saw our pain and met it with the utmost compassion. We felt true love from her and for her.
Elaine helped us deliver our daughter 4.5 years ago and left a profound impression on us then. She was kind, respected our birth plan, and helped us course correct when that plan became impossible. She came back the second morning of our labor and helped bring our beautiful girl into life. Last Thursday, we learned our next baby had died in utero at nearly 25 weeks. The following morning, we arrived at the hospital, and as we checked in we heard, B? I'm Elaine, I'll be your nurse today. We broke down in tears at her familiar eyes, and she made it clear she remembered us as well. Throughout the next 10 hours, Elaine was a source of strength, laughter, and support through our tears. She encouraged us, supported us, and advocated for us and for our baby to have the dignity and respect she deserved throughout the impossible process. At every turn and in every moment, Elaine saw our pain and met it with the utmost compassion. We felt true love from her and for her. The world does not understand pregnancy loss and stillbirths. For those few hours we spent with Elaine and our delivery team, we were truly seen and understood. Elaine is one of the very few people on the planet who met our sweet M, and she will forever play a part in M's brief story. Thank you, Elaine, from the bottom of our broken hearts.
