Ellie was the nurse for a child who had no family; he lived in a long-term care facility. He has nothing that belonged to him when he came to the hospital, no clothes or toys. Every night, Ellie would make a point to hold him, rock him, and make him feel loved. Before he left to go back to the long-term care facility, she made him a blanket with his name on it and all his favorite cartoons so that we could send him back with something that belonged to him. Ellie went above and beyond for this patient who had no family and no one to check on him. Ellie became like family to him. I believe that she deserves this award more than anyone I know.
