Dr. Bosque has been a source of constant encouragement. Learning to transition from the bedside to the head of the bed, so to speak, is a tremendous challenge and enormous responsibility. For the NNP student, that means we might be the one who tells parents there is nothing we can do to save their baby, that their baby needs surgery or has an infection, etc. Elena has comforted me when I have had heartbreaking encounters that have served as harsh realizations of what more responsibility means. Her approach is one of practicality, and she encourages reflection and self-care. She is flexible and works with her students to meet their needs when it comes to deadlines and has high expectations for the final product. 
Elena is always available and willing to help her students in addition to sharing her knowledge, expertise, and skill. Through her teaching and research, she illustrates her dedication to serving others.
