Elena is truly an excellent charge nurse. She is often referred to as the momma bear of the unit. She not only takes care of our patients but also takes care of our team. Her compassion, empathy, and professionalism set a standard for excellence in nursing. We recently had a patient who was discharged home but misplaced his glucometer. He had trouble getting a new one prior to admission. She took it upon herself to go to Kroger and purchase a glucometer and strips for him. All this to ensure a safe discharge.
