Elena has been the best home healthcare RN we have ever had the pleasure of engaging with. Her bedside manner is compassionate and informative. The patient has had a very difficult time during recovery and her (previous) prolonged illness. She was extremely apprehensive and frightened upon returning home from the hospital. The 1st month of home health care was difficult for both her and us (the family members caring for her). When Elena became our HHCRN case worker everything changed. She took the time to explain everything she was doing, and why. She answered all of our questions and offered good advice. Elena went above and beyond helping us family members learn how to better support Mom's recovery. She checked in on us after stressful situations and empowered us to help with mom’s care. Elena’s bedside manner has bordered on magic. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a soft touch. Her empathy and compassion transformed Mom’s experience. During the early painful WoundVac changing, Elena’s swift and efficient work lessened the distress and discomfort mom had previously experienced. Most importantly, Elena knew when to stop and focus on keeping her patient calm. She checked in constantly with mom and never pushed her beyond her comfort zone. Because of the trusting relationship, Elena was better able to administer painful procedures like cauterization. Elena has created an environment where her patient feels safe, well taken care of, and respected. If not for her, Mom’s recovery would be slower, more painful, and with less successful results. Elena’s extensive knowledge of the WoundVac system cannot be understated. She is an expert and a boon to the department.
