Eli, my dear Eli, taught me that, despite being far from home and having my heart in the fight for my baby, I found a family in the NICU.
I am Bolivian and came to the Austral Hospital because my baby was born with a left diaphragmatic hernia. She was born and went directly to the NICU. There, I met the kindest and most capable people I’ve ever known; they were angels to me, to my family, and especially to my baby, C. We spent 18 days in which their professionalism and humanity went beyond anything. They gave me support that I can't even begin to describe with words.
Eli, my dear Eli, taught me that, despite being far from home and having my heart in the fight for my baby, I found a family in the NICU. They make you feel at home, and despite the difficult moments that we, as parents, siblings, grandparents, and uncles, go through, Eli showed us that the strength of a team is everything and there is always hope. She taught me about each piece of equipment and what it was for and gave me the opportunity to feel my baby close to me, even though I couldn’t hold her in my arms. God’s plan was to take my baby to His side, but in the fight against the condition she had, I was blessed to be surrounded by wonderful people like my dear Eli, who fought alongside me! My family and I are forever grateful and filled with immense affection for Eli. Thank you for your professionalism and humanity. Thank you for all the care you gave ny beloved angel. Thank you for being family.
