As Elida's supervisor, I appreciate all she does for the department, her colleagues, and especially her patients. I know how much "extra" work Elida does for me and the department, but I do not know that all her associates, leaders, and the doctors are aware. I for one could not do my job without all of Elida's insights. She keeps a "pulse" on the department supplies/equipment and takes care of any issues that arise. Elida has been an amazing mentor to new associates. She takes them under her wing and makes sure they succeed. Their failures would be her failures. Obviously, failure is not a choice and she has helped countless nurses succeed in their new roles.

Elida is one of the best nurses I know. Even in a chaotic situation, she is the person who is the voice of reason. She always makes time for questions when you have them and never makes you feel like you are on your own when you feel overwhelmed. She does such a great job of asking the hard questions with new processes. She also is great at talking through hard cases to figure out if there is anything we missed. She is way more critical of herself than anyone else and always uses situations for teaching.

Elida is a very attentive nurse. If we have questions, she has answers or knows where to find them. She is a wealth of knowledge for our department. Elida is the type of nurse we should all aspire to be. She is smart, caring, intuitive, sticks up for what is right, and has a lot of integrity. If anyone in my family needed to be in the hospital she would be one of the first picks I would choose to be their nurse. I could not believe it when I heard that Elida had never received a DAISY Award. However, the more I thought about it, it made sense because she is so good that she makes a very difficult job look easy. She is brilliant and her clinical judgment is spot on. Her skills are top-notch. She meets every challenge with her keen insight and organized determined manner. She is unflappable. She operates at such a consistently high level that we unwittingly take her excellence for granted but yet, she is everyone's go-to when the going gets tough.
