December 2022 Honoree
Elisabeth Parobechek, NNP-BC
Elisabeth was called from Riley to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a team from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for a crash cesarean delivery in the main operating room. The baby had already been delivered and the emergency room team was working on him when the NICU team arrived. The NICU team all worked very well together, but Elisabeth was able to quickly perform procedures (intubation, central lines, medications, blood, etc.) and conduct/run a complete code. When the code was completed, she discussed it with the team. At that point, the team cared for the baby with compassion and grace and Elisabeth sat in the OR and held the baby until the final time was called. Before the NICU team left, she held a moment of silence with the team around the baby and honored the life that was. She went above and beyond what she had to do for this baby and the team.
Thank you, Elisabeth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
